Terroir
The terroir of the Dealul Mare vineyard is found in the essence of every drop of LacertA wine.
Located in the heart of the Dealu Mare vineyard, the winery benefits from an exceptional terroir, characterized by warm summers, long and sunny autumns, and ideal conditions for quality viticulture. This natural balance especially favors the cultivation of red grape varieties, giving rise to full-bodied, ample red wines with an elegant structure, fine tannins, and remarkable aging potential.
Each bottle expresses the authenticity of the place and the harmony between nature, tradition, and modern winemaking technology.
Soil
The clay-loam soils, supported by a calcareous subsoil, define the personality of LacertA wines.
Clay retains water and nutrients necessary for the vine, while the calcareous layers support drainage, freshness, and the natural tension of the wine.
During dry periods, this balance helps the plant develop consistently and promotes the slow and uniform ripening of the grapes.
The result is wines with structure, complexity, freshness, and a distinct minerality, an expression of their origin.
Climate
Located on the 45th parallel, LacertA vineyards annually benefit from 2,100–2,200 hours of sunshine, well above the 1,500–1,800 hours threshold required for optimal ripening of red grape varieties.
Precipitation, with a multi-year average of 400–500 mm, provides the vines with the necessary water without diminishing the natural concentration of the grapes.
Predominantly southern and south-eastern exposure maximizes light capture and promotes uniform ripening. At the same time, constant easterly winds reduce the risk of frost in the cold season, ventilate the plantations during summer, and naturally limit disease pressure.
Together, these climatic factors contribute to producing complex, balanced, and expressive wines.
Via
LacertA vineyards, planted between 2005 and 2010, have already reached maturity, producing grapes of remarkable quality today.
The oldest plots, planted in 2005, are dedicated to the Limited Edition range, where the vines' potential is maximised in the best years.
To concentrate the aromas and character of each variety, production is limited to 6,000–7,000 kg/ha, thus ensuring the highest quality grapes and wines with depth, elegance, and authenticity.
